Meet Our Speaker

A Man with a Mission, Inside and Out of the KC Wolf Costume

Dan Meers went to work each day like many other men, dressed in a suit. The only difference is that instead of wearing a tie with his suit, Dan wore a tail. You see, Dan was a professional mascot.
Dan Meers donned the iconic KC Wolf suit for 35 years, thrilling fans, energizing communities, and embodying heart, humor, and hard work. A native of St. Charles, Missouri, Dan earned national acclaim as Truman the Tiger at the University of Missouri, where he became the 1989 National Collegiate Mascot Champion, before a stint as Fredbird with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was the Kansas City Chiefs' first full-time KC Wolf since 1990.
Known affectionately as the team's "Director of Shenanigans," he performed at over 375 games, including international contests and Super Bowls, and wowed crowds at more than 10,000 community events spanning 12 countries and 38 states.
In 2006, KC Wolf became the first NFL mascot inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame. In 2020, Dan was honored in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, the first mascot to receive that distinction.
Behind the laughs and acrobatics is a man of deep faith, passion, and purpose. In 2013, he survived a dramatic on-field stunt accident, suffering spinal injuries and broken ribs, and turned that trial into fuel for motivational speaking and two books: Wolves Can’t Fly and Mascot on a Mission, with proceeds supporting global charitable efforts.
Dan Meers lives by the motto: “faith, family, and making a positive difference”. He serves as a sought-after speaker at schools, churches, corporations, and community groups, delivering messages of character, hope, and resilience. As he said in a 2023 interview, “God didn’t put us on this earth to make a living . . . He put us here to make an impact.”
Dan's story isn't just entertaining—it's transformational. His mix of humor, humility, and heartfelt lesson brings everyone together in a powerful message of stewardship and service. CCS is honored to welcome him and his infectious spirit to our Stewardship Dinner.
Mascot on a Mission

The book includes stories from KC Wolf's 35-year career and specifically the international trips he has taken to Honduras, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Philippines, India and Tanzania over the past five years.
For more than 35 years Dan has served as KC Wolf, the mascot for the Kansas City Chiefs football team. Although his occupation is mascot, his preoccupation and passion in life is using his time, talent and treasure to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Dan believes we are all called to be difference makers in this world. We are called to care for those who are hurting and helpless.
Regardless of whether you re the CEO of a company or a custodian, no matter if you are the head coach of your team or just the team mascot, each of us can live a life of influence. Each of us is uniquely designed by God to make an impact with our lives.
