Earlier this month, Central Christian School was honored to be represented in Washington, D.C. at the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Public Policy and Advocacy Summit. High school seniors Hunter Franz and Konnor Sullivan, along with Dr. John Walker and Mrs. Kara Moore, had the opportunity to engage with national leaders and learn how today’s decisions are shaping tomorrow’s future.
Throughout the conference, attendees heard from prominent educational and cultural voices including Os Guinness, Dr. Rebecca McLaughlin, Dr. Michael Lindsay, and Steve Beegoo, among others. The sessions challenged participants to think deeply about issues of faith, education, and culture, and how they intersect with public policy.
In addition to the event sessions, the group toured many of Washington’s historic landmarks. Highlights included visiting the monuments, the Library of Congress, the outside of the Supreme Court, and a tour of the U.S. Capitol, complete with a stop at the Speaker’s Balcony.
The trip concluded with a visit to Capitol Hill, where CCS participants met with the staff of Kansas Congressman Tracey Mann and the staff of Kansas Senator Jerry Moran. While staff from Senator Roger Marshall’s office were unavailable during the visit, the group gained valuable insights into the legislative process and the ongoing discussions surrounding school choice, religious liberty, and freedom.
This experience not only gave our students a firsthand look at the nation’s capital, but also encouraged them to consider the vital role of faith and education in shaping future public policy.
